Scholars of Sustenance – Saving wasted food and feeding disadvantaged people
SOS (Scholars of Sustenance) 'rescues' surplus food from hotels, supermarkets and other businesses in Bangkok and Phuket to avoid it going to waste. Food that is safe to eat is distributed to local communities in need, while other food waste is taken to composting farms. They provide the logistics, labour, and financial support to facilitate the transfer of food to the most suitable destination, while also educating communities about being more conscious of limited resources.
Why are donations needed now?
Most hotels and other tourism businesses in Bangkok and Phuket are closed so there is no surplus food. This means that communities who depend on SOS for food supplies are struggling to feed themselves even more than usual. Financial support is urgently needed to provide sustenance while food donations are in short supply.
